A 6-story garage, hanging gardens from top to bottom, a full fledged cinema, four floors of indoor/outdoor gardens and a top floor with indoor/outdoor entertaining and views of the Arabian Sea. These are just a few highlights of Antilla, the 27-story skyscraper home being built in downtown Mumbai for Mukesh and Nita Ambani. Mukesh Ambani, listed by Forbes as the fifth richest man in the world with a net worth of $43 billion is owner of Reliance Industries, India’s largest firm by market capitalization.
Antilla’s shape is based on Vaastu, an Indian design style similar to Feng Shui. The design is intended to keep a feeling of consistency, without repetition by making sure no two floors are alike. The plans are varied and the same materials are not used on different floors. The rooms are further varied from traditional designs with heavy Indian cultural influences to modern designs with more subtle influences from a variety of cultures.
The home features a health level with the expected spas, plus a lap pool in an indoor/outdoor combination with views of the Mumbai skyline and Arabian Sea. More unusual are yoga and dance studios, gyms and a solarium with a juice bar and an ice room in the center space featuring man-made snow flurries on hot summer days.
There is a four-story open garden and hanging hydroponic plants shading several levels, helping moderate temperatures in summer and winter.
Entertainment aside from the cinema includes a huge ballroom with beautiful crystal chandeliers.
